Preventing jawbone loss
When you lose your natural teeth, your jaw bone and surrounding tissues start to reasorb (shrink) or disappear over time. The gap left by a missing tooth can put more strain on the teeth either side, plus your 'bite' can also be affected due to the adjacent teeth having to lean into the gap. When implants are placed in the jaw, they stimulate the remaining bone to grow and mesh around the metals. What's more, they'll prevent food getting stuck in the gap, therefore reducing the risk of tooth decay and gum disease.
